ARCADE 2024

>>>

For Arcade2024, an organic emphasis, or theme, emerged focusing on the performativity of tasks and actions which lean towards liminoid contemporary rituals that considered one’s positionality within the environment. These environments are both natural and built, inclusive of cultural milieus and memoryscapes. Eight artists from the Western and Eastern Cape have come together to offer seven live art performances, all warranting multiple means of engagement. These artists and artworks strive to question, provoke, reflect, subvert and archive our current realities in order to postulate and consider alternatives. Audiences were invited to engage with the various performances as they wished within the Arcade at Rosedale Building and the Arena Quad, at the University of Cape Town’s Hiddingh Campus, between 6pm and 10pm on Thursday 5 September 2024.
