Portals into Praxis: Artists’ Reflections on the Live Art Arcade 2018-2022 is more than a book documenting the Live Art Arcade’s (LAA) first five years of existence. It is an extension, and a translation, of many of the ideals and intentions of the LAA as a concept and an active organisation, but in a different form. It brings together twelve previous collaborators – some publishing their ideas for the first time – to offer reflections on their various engagements and encounters with the LAA in a range of textual and graphic forms, styles and perspectives. This book is therefore also a continuation of many of the critical questions, discoveries and provocations, made by several of its participants. It is a gesture towards longevity and a shared desire to find alternative ways for the work of the LAA and its collaborators to have wider reach, to gain increased traction and to connect to as many communities of artists, researchers and audiences as possible.

Edited by Gavin Krastin and Alan Parker, Portals into Praxis: Artists’ Reflections on the Live Art Arcade 2018-2022 includes contributions from Lesego Chauke, Andi Colombo, Julia de Rosenwerth, Evaan Jason Ferreira, Axl Forder, Gavin Krastin, Lungile Lallie, Naledi Majola, Nomcebisi Moyikwa, Alan Parker, Tazmé Pillay, Kanya Viljoen and Louise Westerhout.
